Acella Construction to build new project for the Norwell VNA

Norwell, MA. (August 15, 2012)— Acella Construction announced today that it has been selected by the Norwell Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice to build their new facility in Hingham. Acella was selected to renovate the former New England Friends Home, Thayer House on Turkey Hill Lane in Hingham, to transform it into a hospice residence. The Thayer House sits on a 3.62 acre lot surrounded by land owned by the Hingham-based Trustees of Reservations. Previously operated as an assisted living, the 16,781 square foot building will be updated and adapted to provide a 12-bed non-profit hospice residence. Renovations are scheduled to begin in the fall of 2012 with the residence opening in 2013. The residence will offer a comfortable, safe, home-like setting for individuals with a life-limiting illness, and compassionate support for generations of loved ones. Acella is partnering with JACA Architects of Quincy on this Design-Build project.

Boston College selects Acella Construction for multi-phase project

Acella Construction has begun work on a multi-phase project for Boston College. The work, which will be performed at Conte Forum, will include new zamboni storage areas, equipment rooms, locker rooms and a break room.  The work will be performed on an aggressive phased schedule to meet firm deadlines required by the athletic department. "This is the second major project that Acella has undertaken for Boston College's athletic department, and we're honored to be selected" said David Dirubbo, President of Acella Construction. "We're thrilled to be back on Boston College's campus and are anxious to continue building our relationship with them."

Acella Construction selected by Boston University Medical

Acella Construction was recently selected by Boston University Medical to manage renovations to the 5th floor of their Dental School, located on East Newton Street in Boston. This renovation will begin immediately, and construction will be completed by the fall semester. The project requires multiple phasing to allow Boston University Medical to continue to maintain operations with no downtime.

As anyone in construction knows, the punchlist is the real test of a superintendent’s expertise, and Acella passed it with flying colors. This, despite the fact that the project was terrifically complicated technically, involving both restoration and new work, with a variety of trades employed- requiring broad knowledge from the project team.
